How long have you been in business?
We started our business in 2006 in Athens, GA.
What is your primary product or service?
We teach a form of self defense martial arts, called Aikido.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Our son got us involved in Aikido after he started taking it when he was 6 years old. While showing what he had learned, he flipped his father to the ground. We decided we all wanted to know how to do that, and the whole family began training together. We've been teaching and training ever since.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We truely enjoy teaching and spreading the knowledge that we've gained over the years. We do not make this our sole means of support, therefore we aren't worried about how much money it brings in. We charge a fair rate for our time and knowledge and never lock people into a contract nor charge extra for them to move up in rank.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have two locations. Our main dojo, or training area is in Winder, GA. We have classes there on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and Saturday mornings. We also have space at the Jefferson Recreation Center for classes on Monday and Friday nights. We plan to add more class times at our Winder location, adding some morning or midday.
Provide detailed directions to your location
The Jefferson Recreation Center is on Old Pendergrass Road between Jefferson and Hoschton. You can take GA 129, turn onto Old Pendergrass Road near the Kroger. The Center is just a couple of miles down on your left. Our Winder location is just one block from Broad Street or GA Hwy 11. Going south from Jefferson, you would turn left onto Athens Street in the center of Winder, then left again onto North Jackson Street. We are on the right 2 doors down from the Corner Bookstore.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept check, cash, debit and credit cards.
Which areas do you service?
We welcome students from all over to join us.

The Aikido School is owned by Theron and Heather Bennett.
What are your hours of operation?
Mondays and Fridays in Jefferson: children's class 6 - 7 pm, adult's class 7 - 8 pm. Tuesdays and Thursdays in Winder: children's and adult's class 5:30 - 6:30 pm, adult's class 6:30 pm - 8 pm. Saturday mornings in Winder: 10 - 11 am children's and adult's class, 11-12:30 adult's class.
